Bringing it to the surface...
I got up this morning and started reading the updates on my list of blogs and found this from CaliValleyGirl.

A helicopter crash in Afghanistan. Her boyfriend's unit. There are no survivors. She has no word yet if her boyfriend was there, but I can only begin to imagine what she's going through.

I have been lucky. Lately, NavyBoy has been in Kuwait, and has been calling daily. He's sad, angry and not easy to talk to, but at least I get to hear his voice.

This news hits deep. Every time this happens, families lose dads, moms, brothers, sisters. Life changes significantly. Being a military girlfriend adds another dimension. We won't get the uniformed visit. We will only hear second hand.

In my case, Todd's brother is to call me if he can't.

If you have some room in your prayers today, please think of CaliValleyGirl. It's going to be a long day for her.

A patriotic Canadian full of visions of a better Canada, random thoughts and a lot of hot air. Who am I? A struggling writer and photographer, who looks forward to a better Canada. I read. A lot. I learn. A lot. I push myself. A lot. The world is a small place, and getting smaller every day. I'm proud to have friends in every corner of the earth, and abide by the old adage that there are no strangers, only friends we haven't met yet.
